Fortune takes a break from his folk radio show on Zetland
FM 105 to bring some of his songs of Redcar/ Cleveland life and of
contemporary issues, all in his distinctive, laid-back style. The songs
will include some old favourites but there's always something new.
Gibb - Welcome back to a singer / songwriter from the
hills of Dumfries and Galloway whose songs range from wistful to (more
often) hilarious. They are delivered with great finger-picking guitar,
great energy and great banter.
Miles - Our only guest over the holiday period is a regular
visitor. Always entertaining, he's an engaging singer who puts across
traditional songs and a few of his own in a relaxed style, to the
accompaniment of English concertina and guitar.
||Bank holiday Singaround - FREE ENTRY, no raffle, just come
and sing, play, recite or listen.
Conolly - Back by popular demand, John has produced a
catalogue of songs which define the word singable - and he puts them
across with great style and humour. From the trawler songs to the
ribald seaside postcard ditties and stirring evocations of history
and traditions, you'll want to join in and you'll go home with a smile
on your face! For one night only we're
relocating to The Wellington Inn ("The Welly") in Wolviston
Daniels - multi-talented performer, a master melodeon
player and fine singer who mixes the traditional with beautifully
crafted new songs. He plays guitar and, intriguingly, his show also
includes the polyphon, a disc-playing music box. Definitely something
different - don't miss it!
||Singaround - Remembering Trevor Lister
McLachlan - New Roots Night - a hotspot for
a young singer from Boldron near Barnard Castle who plays ukelele.
Kirsty also plays fiddle in the Cream Tees band. Come and support
the next generation of folkies and bring your own young friends and
||Singaround - Cancelled by the pub at short
notice because decorators still at work.
Turner - A tradition bearer and surely one of the best
singers on the folk circuit, Steve has a great selection of songs
to which he adds outstanding accompaniment on concertina and cittern.
These days he plays the clubs and venues he enjoys so we're delighted
he chooses us! Relocated for the night to
"The Welly" at Wolviston (during refurbishment at the
George & Dragon).
Trousers - A vocal trio from the Merseyside area who
perform folk songs, work songs and shanties. They have a terrific
sound and will be great to join in with. Sample tracks on YouTube.
Goulder - A rare opportunity to hear the writer of The
January Man, one of the best songs to come out of the folk revival,
as witnessed by the many singers who have performed and recorded it.
Many more excellent songs were inspired by his interests and experience
as a naturalist, railwayman and dry stone waller. In the latter role
he achieved the status of master craftsman and it has often been said
that this accolade applies equally to his songwriting and singing.
||Singaround - 100 years since the end of World War 1
||Tony Wilson - Rescheduled from June and the World
Cup, we welcome an old friend of the Club - excellent voice and guitar-
some great songs and stories, all making for an entertaining night.

Anderson & Dan Walsh - a fantastic cross-generational
duo - Concertina King Alistair also brings Northumbrian pipes; Banjoman
Dan adds guitar and vocals. The repertoire ranges from Bluegrass
songs to Northumbrian rants, from jazzy ballads to Old Time reels.
They combine high energy with world-class musicianship. "Nifty
fun with bags of wow factor" FRoots

great affection by her many fans which she returns to her audiences
with warmth and humour. She has a great voice and some terrific material
which can be anything from mining songs to music hall, country to
protest or pop: every song is stamped with her personality.
